Trump Nominates Several Individuals to Key Posts in HHS
President Trump has nominated several individuals to key posts within the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
Gustav Chiarello is nominated for the post of assistant secretary of financial resources. Chiarello is currently “Senior Special Counsel to the House Committee on the Judiciary,” and he serves on the “Subcommittee on the Administrative State, Regulatory Reform, and Antitrust.” He previously worked as an attorney at the FTC and worked under the acting FTC chairman during the first Trump administration.
Gary Andres has also been nominated for assistant secretary of legislation. He is currently the “Republican Staff Director of the House Budget Committee. Mr. Andres served as the Republican Staff Director for the House Ways and Means Committee from 2018 to 2022 and for the House Energy and Commerce Committee from 2011 to 2017. He also worked in the White House Office of Legislative Affairs for Presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush.”
Finally, Michael Stuart has been nominated to the post of general counsel. He currently serves as a West Virginia state senator. Previously, he “served as a United States District Attorney, as the Chairman of the West Virginia Republican Party, and as a corporate attorney.”
