Medline Secures Major Contract to Provide Medical-Surgical Products to VA Medical Centers

Medline secures 19 out of 20 delivery orders from VA to support Veterans Integrated Service Networks, aiming to improve efficiency and accuracy in healthcare supply chain.

On Feb. 10, Medline announced it has been awarded by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) 19 of a possible 20 delivery orders to support the Veterans Integrated Service Networks (VISNs) in administering care to veterans.

A press release on the announcement said, “The agreement is to provide distribution of medical-surgical products to the majority of VA Medical Centers (VAMC) in the Veterans Health Administration, America’s largest integrated healthcare system, and also encompasses distribution for Other Government Agencies (OGAs), including the Indian Health Service (IHS), Bureau of Prisons (BOP) and Health and Human Services (HHS).”

Further, “The Veterans Health Administration (VHA) is a crucial provider of healthcare for veterans in the United States, with roughly 9 million veterans receiving care at more than 1,300 VA healthcare facilities across the country. The five-year contract aims to significantly improve efficiency and accuracy as part of the VA’s integrated supply chain improvement initiative. Medline’s best-in-class supply chain solutions, including its network of 45 distribution centers in the U.S. and an owned transportation fleet of 2,000-plus MedTrans trucks, will help ensure VA facilities receive reliable service.”

New delivery orders and existing awards are estimated to be over $1 billion annually and will service over 90% of the Veterans Integrated Services Networks, according to the release.
