U.S. Customs Rule Change Triggers Shipping Delays, Temporary Suspension of High-Value B2C Deliveries

April 23, 2025
New U.S. customs rules prompt DHL to suspend B2C shipments over $800, leading to delays and increased formal clearances.

According to an update from DHL, effective April 5, 2025, new U.S. Customs regulations have lowered the threshold for formal entry processing from USD 2,500 to USD 800. As a result, all shipments entering the U.S. valued above USD 800 now require more complex customs procedures, triggering a significant increase in formal clearances and resulting in multi-day delays.

In response, the company has announced a temporary suspension of business-to-consumer (B2C) shipments to private individuals in the U.S. for packages valued over USD 800, effective April 21, 2025. This pause will remain in place until further notice.

Business-to-business (B2B) shipments over USD 800 are still being processed, though they may also experience delays. The company is actively scaling operations to manage the surge and will provide ongoing updates as the situation develops.
