According to a March 12 press release, Solventum, formerly 3M Health Care, announced the launch of the Attest eBowie-Dick Test System (eBowie-Dick System)—an electronic test card and auto-reader for sterilization testing that removes the need for visual interpretation of results and manual documentation.
The press release stated, “In less than five seconds, the eBowie-Dick System's simple ‘pass’ or ‘fail’ digital display provides definitive test results and creates an automated record that can be integrated into a hospital's instrument tracking system, eliminating the need to scan analog test results.”
Conventional tests for steam dynamic-air removal sterilizers use a color-changing ink indicator to assess the efficacy of air removal and detect leaks in the sterilizer and the ink indicator is placed between layers of a paper packet.
The eBowie-Dick Test System can reduce the paper waste from Bowie-Dick tests.
The eBowie-Dick System is now available in the U.S. and will be available globally throughout 2025—some countries may be delayed due to additional local regulatory requirements.
