Philips Launches SmartSpeed Precise MRI System Powered by AI

The technology has already reduced the time it takes for scans to be completed, and the images returned are sharper.

Royal Philips has launched its SmartSpeed Precise MRI system, which is powered by “Dual-AI engines.” Globe Newswire has the news.

SmartSpeed Precise “improves scan speed and diagnostic image quality, extending AI-driven efficiency across the entire Philips MR portfolio—including existing customer systems.” The technology also reduces wait times and “optimizes scanner utilization, allowing facilities to deliver high-quality imaging with greater speed.” Exam times have been reduced to less than 60 minutes per slot for a whole body exam.

Scans are completed up to three times faster with SmartSpeed Precise technology. Its dual-AI engine delivers an “80% improvement in image sharpness.” Philips’ new MR Workspace R12 introduces a so-called “zero-click” workflow, which guides the “imaging process from scan initiation to report generation.” 80% of MR procedures are powered by AI with the SmartExam feature.

Philips also launched a 1.5T BlueSeal MR wide-bore scanner, which features a helium-free magnet system to ensure “long-term reliability and [reduce] environmental impact.” BlueSeal technology has saved “nearly 5 million liters of liquid helium” since 2018, and energy consumption has been cut by nearly 40 MWh per year, which both lowers operational costs and carbon footprint.
