Ecolab Inc., a global supplier of water, hygiene and energy technologies and services, continues to expand its healthcare offerings with the next generation of open basin fluid warming systems, the CoreTemp Fluid Management System. Ecolab asserts that CoreTemp provides advanced measurement capabilities to help support improved patient health and address the increasing need for process and cost efficiencies in the healthcare industry.
Current accepted practice in almost every surgical suite is to approximate fluid intake, output and blood loss during surgery. This approximation is used by the clinical team to make critical decisions, which may significantly impact patient outcomes. Precise fluid measurement is an important enabler of predictable and controlled patient outcomes, and CoreTemp delivers the technology to automatically and accurately track irrigation fluid volume during surgery, says the company.

“The CoreTemp system helps reduce the risk of fluid-related complications due to errors in estimated blood loss calculations, helping to improve the standard of care,” said Linda Homan, RN, BSN, CIC and Senior Manager of Clinical Affairs for Ecolab Healthcare. “In addition, this innovative system helps maintain patient body temperature during surgery and reduces operating room prep time to under 10 minutes.”
The CoreTemp Fluid Management System warms fluid to a known and controlled temperature to prevent hypothermia. Even mild inadvertent hypothermia during surgery may increase post-anesthesia recovery time, blood loss and poor cardiac outcomes. CoreTemp Fluid Management System also is designed to heat fluids up to three times faster than other systems, enabling its use in urgent situations, such as emergency cesarean sections.
CoreTemp’s innovative features, including height adjustability and a simple drop-and-go drape, also make it easy to set up and use.
