Members of the sterile processing department at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) yesterday, April 29, received the 2019 Healthcare Purchasing News Sterile Processing Department of the Year award during the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM) Annual Conference & Expo in Anaheim, CA.
HPN received numerous entries detailing the remarkable work and dedication that CS/SPD teams across the country are doing to keep patients safe and clinical departments running smoothly and efficiently. And this year the award-judges – staff members, active industry professionals on the editorial advisory board and the leader of the previous year’s winning department – selected another deserving team for this year’s award. Their story appears in the May issue of HPN.
Bartholomew (Jeno) Lewis, CHL, CRCST, Technical Manager, CHOP, commented, “Its a major honor to be recognized by the Healthcare Purchasing News team as the Central Processing Department of the Year. We will continue to build on our training and workflow processes."
Rick Dana Barlow, HPN’s Senior Editor and writer of their story, said CHOP’s Central Processing Department (CPD) “creatively emphasizes the concepts of training and education, process improvement and quantifiable metrics all under the umbrella of performance-based teamwork.”
Congratulations CHOP – and thanks for all you do!
