The American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) will host its annual National Teaching Institute & Critical Care Exposition (NTI), May 20-23, with pre-conferences on May 19 in Orlando, FL. Attendees will be exposed to the latest innovations in clinical practice, healthcare technology, evidence-based practice and research. AACN said in a news release that it expects more than 7,500 nurses across disciplines – bedside nurses, researchers, academic and other nursing professions – to participate in the event and that 6 months after attending previous events, 98 percent of survey respondents said they had applied the learning, or plan to apply learning, from NTI to their practice.
“NTI lets you see how units around the country are successfully finding solutions,” said Karen Stutzer, PhD, RN, assistant professor of nursing at College of St. Elizabeth, Morristown, NJ in a statement. Stutzer, a past member of the AACN board of directors, has presented at many NTIs. “It reveals opportunities and possibilities that you can internalize into your own nursing practice. It builds your strength as a practitioner.”
Nurse attendees will have access to hundreds of evidence-based education sessions designed to improve clinical practice, patient outcomes and hospitals’ bottom line. They’ll enjoy a numerous variety of opportunities to learn and discuss emerging trends in patient care, best practices, advances in medical technology and many more issues of importance to critical care nurses across the country. Most of NTI’s nearly 300 sessions will take place at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, with additional NTI events at the nearby Hyatt Regency Orlando.

· Improving patient outcomes and hospital financial savings with nurse-led innovations
· Creating and sustaining healthy work environments
· Understanding the benefits and risks of healthcare technology
· Integrating new research findings into evidence-based patient care
The Advanced Practice Institute, integrated within NTI, has more than 65 sessions with content including pre-conferences, clinical sessions, leadership role development, pharmacology and mastery sessions, specifically developed for advanced practice nurses.
NTI also includes the Critical Care Exposition, the largest and most comprehensive trade show for acute and critical care nurses. Hundreds of exhibits, spread over 300,000 square feet, will encompass the latest healthcare equipment, devices, supplies and career opportunities. Participants can earn up to 37.5 hours of continuing education (CE) during NTI. CE hours — calculated on a 60-minute contact hour — are determined by the number of sessions a participant attend.
