Implementation Strategies for Effective UV-C Room Disinfection in Patient Care Areas

To combat the ongoing threat of Healthcare-associated Infections, thousands of hospitals and healthcare facilities have adopted the use of UV-C room disinfection devices as part of enhanced environmental hygiene.   The majority of hospitals use UV-C room disinfection technology selectively --- most often to help control outbreaks and as an adjunct step in terminal disinfection of patient rooms.  This presentation will provide an information primer on how to effectively implement UV-C room disinfection facility-wide.  To do so, Environmental Services leader Ed Carson will share his Team’s best practices to do so - including standardized usage protocols, annual team training, standardized usage protocols and interdisciplinary collaboration – to help drive better patient outcomes.
